Our Management Team
S&W Controls is a family owned company with over 25 years in the business.
Robert Whitehead / President / Owner
Proud member of United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry for 30 years.
Andy Whitehead / Vice President, Controls
As a Small Computer System Specialist in the Marine Corps, Andy specialized in the integration of computer and communications equipment.
Andy earned high-level integration and supervisory experience serving as the Information Systems Chief for the 1st Marine Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During war and peacetime he oversaw a team of 10 marines that managed the network and digital communications of the entire 1st marine regiment.
Andy parlayed his military experience into the commercial space in 2003, starting as the network administrator and working his way up to the IT Director for a financial firm in VA. There, managing integrated systems for a commercial enterprise, Andy gained a deeper understanding of how to network information systems and directly affect the bottom line through efficient system performance.
Andy’s entrepreneurial spirit and his desire to generate tangible results of his contributions brought him to S&W Controls. His expert understanding of system integration and his strength to lead others, made Andy uniquely qualified to perform as S&W Controls’ Vice President, controls division.
Andy credits the company’s success to a loyal customer base which was cultivated over years of ensuring customers see not only the greatest return on their investment, but are equipped with a functional system suited to their specific needs.
Mike Weimer / Vice President, Mechanical
Mike joined the Air Force right after high school, and began his journey in HVAC as a member of the Civil Engineering squadron. An assignment to Bolling Air Force Base (now, Joint Bases, Anacostia-Bolling) brought this Pittsburgh native to the DC area.
When he transitioned out of the Air Force he knew he wanted to apply his skills to the commercial industry. He joined Local 602, and shortly thereafter was encouraged to join S&W Controls to complete his apprenticeship.
Mike started at S&W Controls in 1999, as an entry-level apprentice backed by 800 hours of focused military training. Owner Bob Whitehead quickly recognized Mike as a rising star among his peers, and so did the union.
Graduating at the top of his service class, and salutatorian of his apprentice class, Mike was uniquely qualified to share his experience with others. The union school offered him instructor status and he taught in the evenings for nine years before fully committing as Vice President of S&W Controls, Mechanical Division in 2015.
Mike’s military experience gave him intimate knowledge about military installation operations and exposed him to the world of defense contracting. As the only company he’s ever worked for, S&W Controls benefits from Mike’s specialization in government aspects of construction bidding combined with experience training apprentices.
Mike shares S&W’s long held commitment to getting every job done correctly.
