Robert Whitehead / President / Owner
Robert is a proud member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry. He attended the Steamfitters Local Union 602 of Washington, D.C., and has worked in mechanical systems and related trades for more than 30 years.
In 1989, Robert founded S&W Controls with a vision to provide the Washington, DC Area with superior HVAC mechanical and controls services at honest and competitive prices. Since that time, Robert has worked on many complex projects, at various locations including Fort Myer, Fort McNair, Naval Air Station Patuxent River, and Webster Outlying Field.
Robert is proud to lead a highly-skilled professional team with a strong commitment to quality and customer service.
Andy Whitehead / Vice President, Controls
Vice President of Controls, Andy Whitehead, is a military veteran with more than 10 years of experience in mechanical and controls services. He is Niagara AX & N4 certified.
Andy began his career in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a small computer systems specialist overseeing computer and communications equipment integration. During this time, Andy gained valuable integration and supervisory experience as the Information Systems Chief for the 1st Marine Regiment and proudly served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He oversaw a team of ten highly trained marines that performed a vital role in managing the network of digital communications for the entire regiment.
Upon retiring from military service, Andy parlayed his experience into the commercial space working in network administration, eventually becoming IT Director of a Virginia-based financial firm. His role there involved managing integrated information systems and maintaining efficient system performance to achieve financial goals.
Andy’s entrepreneurial spirit and desire to generate meaningful results brought him to S&W Controls in 2013. His systems integration and management expertise made Andy uniquely qualified to serve as S&W Controls Vice President, Controls Division.
Andy believes the foundation of S&W Controls’ success is a loyal customer base cultivated from years of high-quality results and customer service. In his role, Andy ensures that customers are equipped with high-performing systems suited to their specific needs that provide the greatest return on investment.
Brandon Carter / Senior Project Manager & Lead Programmer
Brandon Carter has more than 15 years of HVAC and controls programming experience. Immediately after high school, Brandon joined Steamfitter Local 602 and S&W Controls as an apprentice.
During his career, Brandon has worked on numerous projects. This notably included a multi-million dollar controls installation where he served as the lead, programming over 700 VAV boxes. As the senior project manager and lead programmer, Brandon manages all programmer technicians and serves as a client and owner liaison.
His positive attitude and impeccable work ethic helped Brandon grow from apprentice to senior manager. Clients appreciate Brandon’s hands-on, thorough approach and in-depth knowledge. He believes that “good is never good enough.”
Jack Bishop / Project Manager, Controls
Jack has more than 10 years of experience and has advanced his skills in both mechanical and controls systems. He has established exceptional management qualities and strong relationships with our team and clients. As a result of his hard work, Jack is now one of our top Project Managers, and believes that “to give real service, you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity”.
Jack has grown with S&W Controls since joining in 2012. He has continued furthering his education after high school by graduating at the top of his class from the Universal Technical Institute of Technology and the UA Technical School Apprenticeship Program.
